From Ryan, a music meme! I don't usually do these, but it's a late night at the office and it was a nice little break.
Go to your music player of choice and put it on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question. NO CHEATING [yeah, right].
How does the world see you?
“Outro with Bees” by Neko Case. “So it’s better my sweet that we hover like bees, ‘cause there’s no sure footing, no love I believe…” Probably not how people actually see me. What’s next? Well, that’s creepy. It’s “Outro with Bees (Reprise)” from the end of the album. Hmmm. One more try… Yikes. “She’s Sad, She Said” by the Judybats. “Her beautiful arse, cantelivering over a table of hors d’oeuvres” Well now. Moving on.
Will I have a happy life?
”Miss Being Mrs.” Loretta Lynn
“Selingelethu Sonke” Ladysmith Black Mambazo – I’m not entirely sure what this is about, but it’s just beautiful and peaceful. Hope that’s good news.
What do my friends really think of me?
”Greenville” Lucinda Williams – It starts out, “Don’t want to see you again…” Hm. Maybe my playlist is sad-heavy, you think?
“If I Only Knew” Tom Jones – Heeeeeeeeayyyyyy! "Sex Bomb" would have been a little better, but I'll take it ;)
Do people secretly lust after me?
”Dirty Eyes (Sex Don’t Sell)” The Raveonettes – Well alright, now…
How can I make myself happy?
”This Time” Chris Isaak
“Mean Ol’ Wind Died Down” North Mississippi All-Stars
Not sure what to make of these two, but I love both
What should I do with my life?
“Daysleeper” REM – Nope, I’m in bed by 10 every night and get up between 5:30 and 6:00!
“(I’m a) Ballerina” The Rogers Sisters – Awesome. I was, once!
Will I ever have children?
“Tell Her Tonight” Franz Ferdinand
Tell me what, exactly?
What is some good advice for me?
“Freak Me Out” Weezer
How will I be remembered?
“She’s Saving Me” Indigo Girls – Nice. I like that. It goes well with my obsessive liberal progressive need to make the world a better place.
What is my signature dancing song?
“2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten” Lucinda Williams - I wanted to cheat on this, 'cause it's such a goofy answer.
What do I think my current theme song is?
“Jacqueline” Franz Ferdinand – It’s better on holiday, indeed.
What does everyone else think my current theme song is?
“I Luv the Valley, OH!” Xiu Xiu – Giggle. I love this song. He’s so tortured and screamy.
What song will play at my funeral?
“This Little Light” Neko Case – Perfect. And I hope it does!
What type of men/women do you like?
“Soulful Shade of Blue” Neko Case – Dave’s favorite from “The Tigers Have Spoken,” so that’s appropriate.
“Little Animal” The Raveonettes – “My girl is a little animal, she always wants to F*^#” Hee!
What is my day going to be like?
“Right in Time” Lucinda Williams – Hope so.
“Turn You Inside-Out” REM – More likely.
Finally, a few pictures from my recent stalking of The West Wing when they were filming here a few weeks ago.
First, my favorite - me and Bradley Whitford!
He was very nice with all the fans and took the time to talk, sign autographs and pose for pictures. I told him how I admired his public support for All Saint's Church, which is being investigated by the IRS (scroll down to "IRS Update"), and that I grew up with the head priest's kids. He paused, smiled and we had a little moment, bonding over how great that family is. Le sigh.
Here's a scene with Josh pedeconferencing on his cellphone (with Sam, maybe?)
Allison Janney as CJ leaves the White House (for the last time?)
I'm soooo going to miss this show. Soon, I'll blog about knitting. I *am* actually working on some fun projects, I promise!

Posted by: Carrie at March 31, 2006 8:45 AMMmmmm...lots of Neko! Have you heard the new CD? It's pretty darn good. Are y'all gonna see her at the 9:30 club? She's supposedly gonna be out here in late June, but it's still up in the air. Oh, Neko...
I just wanted to say that I did not know that you also had love of Neko Case. Outro with Bees is one of my absolute favorite songs. I find though that I cannot listen to her stuff more than one full CD rotation at a time or the music haunts and stays with me for days. I'll Be Around also kicks some major ass
